The main issue that we come across whenever we link a server into our network is that they all use a main channel of #lobby. This has become a de-facto main channel for many a server as lazy example configuration writers lack any sort of imagination. When a server connects up to the network its users will mostly have auto-joins set to join #lobby where they will find people that they don't know and may not get along with. #lobby is also a very poor community name, as it associates itself with the network in a way that assumes ownership over the community rather than demonstrate the autonomy of the communities. To this affect we are closing #lobby and asking people to use #offtopic instead, we apologise for any inconvenience and hope you will continue to stick with leapnode as we grow.
Hey there. If you haven't been here in awhile, you may notice something different... the website has changed! We got a new design thanks to Onvo, and of course Noia. With the new design come some backend changes as well. You may notice some bugs (hopefully not), so be sure to report them.
We hope you enjoy the new website. Let us know what you think in the comments.
It's rather old news now, but Leapnode has a new server, known as ChatWebDev! Give them a big welcome! You can check out their website at http://chatwebdev.com! If you want to chat with them, they've assembled themselves in #chatwebdev.
From ChatWebDev's release:
Leapnode is in short the effort to build a meta-community. Any community that becomes part of Leapnode will retain its sovereignty as a community and in part control over its server. We attempt to semantically separate a communities web aspects from the IRC aspects so that there is no conflict of ownership or interests, Leapnode will never govern or take over a community but rather seeks to provide an environment for communities to thrive in.
One of the main efforts of Leapnode is to bring structured maintenance and security to a network and to standardise things between servers. We also seek to offer further services to our communities later on, for instance web integration and web portals into IRC.
We here are Leapnode are excited to welcome CWD into Leapnode and look forward to seeing Leapnode and CWD grow together.
